There are three useful ways to look at a primary election. (That is, 3 ways better than asking talking heads.) Traditional polls (as represented by RealClearPolitics), forecast models (Nate Silver’s…
For several weeks we wondered if Flutter Community would be welcomed or shunned at Droidcon London this past Thursday and Friday. As fate would have it, we didn’t need to wait until the event to find out. Anyone who was at the pub for the Speaker’s and organizer’s get together on Wednesday night could tell you the Flutter Community / Flutter London booth was going to be very, very busy.
In addition to answering questions, a few members of the community gave presentations to packed audiences. Considering how many people came to hear how Tomek Polanski got his company to switch to Flutter, this could be a sign of things to come.
There were, of course, the usual shenanigans here and there. “King George” Medve held court in front of the banner and the cool guys from the Londroid Meetup were… themselves.
Among the last talks on the first day was “Flutter: 60 Frames of AOT Badassery”, by Scott Stoll and Simon Lightfoot. In it, Scott showed why people from Philadelphia, USA, are known for talking so fast. They smashed two 15 minute Lightning Talk slots together to create a 30 minute mini-talk, and then crammed an hour’s worth of content into a presentation that literally saw people standing along the walls and sitting on the floor in the aisles & down in front!
We want to extend a great big Thank You to Miriam Busch for immortalizing their talk, below. The fact that she was able to draw this as fast as the guys were saying it is nothing short of amazing!
There, the Flutter Community crew put on an impromptu six hour workshop on Flutter, featuring the Here APIs and SDKs for maps and location-aware web and mobile apps… and their REST API works with Flutter!!!
With Here, you can use simple HTTP GET methods providing maps, routing, geocoding, places, positioning, traffic, transit and weather information. Fleet Telematics add capabilities to the service results received from HERE REST APIs.
As the tweet said:
With Flutter gaining momentum, we know it’s only a matter of time before this team is back together again. Where will it be next time? Berlin? Paris? Brussels? Madrid? Oslow?
Only time will tell…
