The soothing sensation of bracket season

I love March Madness. The first 2 days of the NCAA tournament are up there among the greatest events in sports. But the thing I may love the most about Tournament season is the brackets.

I simply cannot explain it but there is just something about filling out brackets. I’m not talking just the NCAA tournament brackets. I’m talking brackets on food, secondary characters in tv shows, Kanye West songs, the most annoying people in sports media to even a bracket that was to decide the best beard. No matter what the bracket is on I’ll fill out. I don’t know why but the feeling of watching these various teams, things people like, whatever, slowly move on one opponent at a time by my choosing until a champion is crowned is so fulfilling.

All the brackets I fill out after scanning the field I normally know what i’m going to have winning the whole thing before I even start filling it out. The process of just going through and filling out the whole bracket is just so soothing to me. I’d even say I prefer filling out the non-basketball brackets because at least with those, nobody can objectively say that I’m completely wrong.
