Time with the Budding Bitcoin Core Contributor

We had the opportunity to host Amitti Uttawar for our Meet the Boss Session on 18th October, 2020. She was a Bitcoin Core contributor co-sponsored by OkCoin and BitMEX. Her focus was on the peer-to-peer layer, improving upon privacy testing and robustness.



As an advocate for the global and inclusive nature of Bitcoin, she was passionate about its potential to redefine our societal ideas of wealth. Amiti promotes technical education and community involvement through speaking engagements, presentations and her original creations: Introduction to Bitcoin. Her other interests included off-trail backpacking, ice climbing, yoga and meditation.



Amitti during her session on Meet the Boss, took us through an introduction to Bitcoin. She related her whole presentation to sending and receiving money without too much stress.

Bitcoin is basically money which is a unit of account used for exchange. Trust in money is required for ease of transaction hence the need to understand how the Bitcoin process works.

Bitcoin is a digital, global network made of interconnected nodes that can be verified. Bitcoin is inclusive and this makes it unique because it allows for anyone to participate once one is signed up to an account.



The technical fundamentals of Bitcoin were shared, and we were showed a system where Bitcoin was simplified. Every Bitcoin user has a private key which is unique that allows for one to be able to operate online by transferring funds in a mathematically safe way- ‘‘If it’s not your keys, it’s not your coins’’. She advised not to share one’s private key with anyone and encouraged participants to at least have a Bitcoin account with the changing times.
